Today we have participated in the
moodle MOOC 6 where we have had the opportunity of taking part in a wonderful
experience.
We have spread the
word of our work during the whole module, how the road to create our own
e-publications was and how we have taken part in the different collaborative
projects as Students Blogging Challenge, #Twima2 and Spring Blog Festival.
I would like to say bye bye to our
course module and to thanks all my peers and my teacher Maria Jesús for your
participation.
The second artifict you will have to do is
about creating a character and a profile for him or her. You can do this
artifict with any tool for creating avatars or comics, such as for example
Storyboard That, Voki or Pixton.
You will use this character to invent the story
that you will create in your final video with some of your peers. It is necessary
to complete a profile about your avatar telling on it the kind of person, animal or being that he or she is. You will have to include some information
about your character related to our topic such as for example if he is a
healthy person or not and why. You can add the amount of fruits he eats or if
he is a clean person, for example.
You can create his profile by recording your
own voice if you use Voki or writing it in the comic if you are using
Storyboard That or Pixton.
Remember you can use the mentioned tool or any
other tool where you can create an avatar and add a profile.
I have created my own avatar with her profile
for you as an example. I have used Pixton to create her because I find this
tool really visual and it has lots of possibilities for body and face expressions
which I like so much.
Once I completed the comic I turned it into a
video using Animoto to make it more engaging and interesting.
This is the first artifact, you will have
to use any tool you want of the ones we have seen in our class, to create a
visual and engaging mind-map where you need to reflect the main concepts
learned.
I have used Cacoo to create one of those
mind-maps as a model for you, this is a really easy to use tool where you can
add all the contents you want in a clear and very visual mind-map.
This mind-map will be your point of
reference for other activities on the future so let´s do a great work!
I have created an audio challenge for you
to feel motivated to start this adventure. I have used Kizoa to add a picture
to make it easier for you to understand the dialogs.
In this audio you will meet five different
monsters from the planet Lendor, they are really dirty and they always eat
unhealthy food. Their names are: Smelly, Sticky, Messy, Sloppy and Piggy. They
want to ask you for something so let´s listen to them:
Completing all
the different tasks that we (teachers) prepare for our students may sometimes
be so difficult for them; we need to create some support in order to make the
learning process accurately for them.
In this case one
of my peers, @estifaniablanch and me, we have created a really interesting and
beautiful story about some weird beings that live in other planet. With this
story I want to support my students by making easier and motivating the
learning of the different contents of the unit.
This story will
support them as well due to the fact that they will have to use their
imagination to relate the different learned concepts and turn them into an
invented story or experiment that they will have to present in a video format for
their final activity.
We have used
Storybird for this tale. This is a fantastic tool that let you create different
tales about almost every topic you want. The images that it offers are
fantastic, so visual and beautiful, however, you can just select one theme for
each tale and you cannot mix it with other different themes.
Another thing
about this tool is that it takes a long time to moderate your story and you
cannot use the embed code until it is moderated so that is the reason why I am
sharing with you the link and not embedding the tale.
Yesterday I posted on my blog the
amazing story of Pedro Picasso told in a comic. This was only the first step to
create this video that I bring you today.
Once we did the comic we decided to
turn it into a video with music to make it even more interesting.
The story of this video is the same
story of the comic showed yesterday. We are in the year 5302, due to the lack
of resources in the Earth, all human beings have moved to another planet called
Electron. People here have learned how to take care of the environment and of
the different resources of this new planet.
Our story begins when a child called
Pedro Picasso, a fourteen years old boy, great, great, great grandson of the
famous painter Pablo Picasso realise that all the members of his family have an
extraordinary talent, all but him. He has presented a great drawing to her
teacher but she does not understand Pedro´s art.
He also has another problem he loves
junk food and he does not like to have showers or baths, so he is always so dirty.
Her mother is always telling him that if he wants to be a painter he needs to
be a little more organized and clean, and that he needs to eat healthy food if
he wants to have enough energy to keep being as creative as he is.
One night he has a dream. In this dream
there are two people, the amazing painters; Velazquez and Picasso, this
painters tell him that he needs to change his mind; he has to be proud of his
art and try to explain it to her teacher. Besides, he needs to be a healthy boy
if he wants to have energy so he needs to start eating better and being
cleaner.
Finally after this revealing dream, he
talks with her teacher explaining his art and the teacher begins to understand
it. He also starts to eat healthier food and having better hygiene habits so
her mother is so proud of him and he feels much better, with more energy and
attitude.
To make this video we used the tool
Kizoa. I did not know much about this tool before but I think that it is really
interesting. It lets you add music and different kinds of transitions and
animations between the images.
The only problem about this tool is
that you cannot share your video at least you have a youtube account.
Here you have the video, do not leave
this page without watching it or you will miss an amazing story!
We have created a really interesting and
exciting story in which we have joined all the different topics of our
eBooks. We have based our story in
planets, storytelling, arts and healthy habits.
At the beginning of the task we had several
doubts because it was hard to join all those topics in a coherent story but, as
you know, working with peers is great so we had several conversations and
debates and finally we found out the way to mix all our topics in an amazing
story.
We did a comic for our story and we used
Pixton to do it. This is a really easy to use tool where you can design your
own characters, dialogs and backgrounds. Something great about this tool is
that you can change the face expressions of the characters and the different
parts of their bodies.
The
last step for the moment is this one; I have created a mindmap showing all my
CLIL-eBook contents.Amindmap is a kind ofdiagramused to
visually organize information. It is created around a single concept, in
this particular case, my science eBook.
I have
designed it with Cacoo. This is a really intuitive and easy to use tool. You
can create many kinds of diagrams and what I like the most about it is that it
is really visual and clear. You can see all the contents at first glance!
The next step in
our road to create an eBook is to decide what it is going to be about and which
things it is going to contain.
The first thing
that I had to think about was the subject I wanted to create my eBook for. I decided
Science, and you may ask: why
science? because science may be a really motivating and enjoyable subject if you
know how to deal with it.
To create this
outline, that is the skeleton of the future eBook, it is necessary to take into
account different things such as student outcomes, objectives of the work,
competences that are going to be developed through it, methodology, tasks and
the main big activity.
The first step to create an eBook is to understand how
an eBook should be like. That way, evaluating other eBooks helps a lot to realize
what needs to be include and how it should be done in order to make a clear and
enjoyable work.
After this step I started to look for some different
contents that my eBook should include such as different tools and apps that may
be used on it. I created a collection of some of them and I share it by using Symbaloo.
To
start with I would like to say that I started this project of creating an eBook
with lots of mates, who are creating their own ones, at our masters in the URJC
University of Madrid and being taught by our ICTS teacher @mjgsm.
The
first step that we did was to create a twitter account in order to share all
the new tasks and projects that we were going to take part in. In my opinion
this was a really good idea because in this way you can follow not only things
related to my own work but also with my peer´s. You can take a look at our course hashtag#ictclil_urjc .
It would be a great
idea to create a class account on twitter in order to take part of this
fantastic way of sharing and learning new things.
This is my first post of the blog; I would
like to invite you to follow all the different things that I am going to share
with you in the next months.
Through this blog I will show you the
different steps that I have followed in order to create my own science eBook.
This eBook will be related to food and
health and it will include lots of interesting contents and activities that you
may find really interesting and enjoyable.
If you have doubts about any of the
publications you can always contact me and I will be glad to answer all your
requirements.
